Simulated Radio Images and Light Curves of Young Supernovae
We present calculations of the radio emission from supernovae based on high-resolution simulations of the hydrodynamics and radiation transfer, using simple energy density relations which link the properties of the radiating electrons and the magnetic field to the hydrodynamics. As a specific example we model the emission from SN1993J, which cannot be adequately fitted with the often-used analy...
متن کاملSimulated Radio Images and Light Curves of SN 1993J
We present calculations of the radio images and light curves from supernovae, based on high-resolution numerical simulations of the hydrodynamics and radiation transfer in a spherically symmetric medium. As a specific example we model the emission from SN1993J. This supernova does not appear to be expanding in a self-similar fashion, and cannot be adequately fitted with the often-used analytic ...
متن کاملOffline and Online Classification of Simulated VAST Transients
VAST is an unprecedented wide-field survey planned with ASKAP, the Australian SKA Pathfinder, that will enable novel scientific discoveries related to known and unknown classes of radio transients and variables. The VAST data processing pipeline extracts sources from 5-second images and builds light curves that are stored in a data archive for science user consumption. This memo addresses two s...
متن کاملASKAP Array Configurations: Technical Studies
In this document we explore the possibilities for different array configurations for the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) based on the requirements of the science case (Johnston et al. 2007). The configurations are constrained by the land available at the Murchison Radio Observatory, a mask of unsuitable locations within the site, and the budget for the backend computing. We...
متن کاملASKAP Resolution for Continuum Surveys
One of the ASKAP science goals is surveying the southern sky to a detection limit of 50μJy beam at 1.4 GHz. Fairly high angular resolution is needed to avoid confusion and measure accurate positions of faint sources, but lower resolution is desirable for detecting low-brightness sources and minimizing computing and construction costs. The best compromise resolution may be θ ≈ 10 arcsec FWHM.
